Hey there!

Summer is creeping in, and with it comes a bit more daylight, a slower pace and (hopefully) a chance to breathe.

Make this summer count: Set realistic English goals

While most people are focused on holidays and barbecues, you might be thinking:

“I really should get back on track with my English…”

Well, good news: summer is actually one of the best times to focus on your language learning. You have got fewer distractions, a bit more headspace, and the chance to build momentum before the busier months hit again.

But here is the key: if you want real progress, you need real (and realistic) goals.

Why summer goals work better

You do not need to spend five hours a day studying grammar. The secret to summer success is small, consistent effort. You have got the mental space to make changes, and that makes it easier to build habits you can actually keep.

So, what should your summer English goals look like?

How to set English goals you will actually stick to

☀️ Make it specific

“I want to improve my English” is a nice thought, but it is not a goal. Try this instead: “I will learn 5 new phrasal verbs each week and use them in a sentence”

☀️ Keep it realistic

It is tempting to be ambitious, but overloading yourself leads to burnout.

If you have only got 15 minutes a day, that is enough (as long as you use it wisely).

☀️ Track your wins

Write down what you learn. Tick off your practice days. Record a video or voice note every Sunday to hear your progress.

Seeing your improvement in black and white keeps you motivated.

☀️ Add a bit of fun

Watch a series in English. Read a book you have been curious about. Join a group class with people from other countries.

Learning does not have to be boring to be effective.

☀️ Pair your goal with a trigger

Do you want to practise listening daily? Do it with your morning coffee.

Linking learning to habits you already have makes it easier to follow through.

You do not need to overhaul your life or give up your summer to make progress.Set one or two small but intentional goals, and let consistency do the heavy lifting.

And remember: English is not just a subject. It is your ticket to more confident conversations, more opportunities, and maybe even a new summer adventure.

Enjoy your summer the smart way 😉

See you in the next one!
