About The English Life Academy

The English Life Academy is an international online academy that helps advanced learners (adults) move beyond textbooks and grammar drills to become confident, fluent speakers of real-life English.

Founded by Benjamin (a native Brit with nearly 10 years of teaching experience) and Camila (an advanced English learner herself), we focus on what truly matters for English learners: practical fluency, clear communication, and genuine confidence in everyday and professional situations.

We offer a wide range of small group classes (maximum of 4–5 students) across areas like:

  • Fluency and conversation

  • Business English

  • Debating and discussion

  • Cambridge & IELTS exam preparation

  • Grammar, pronunciation, phrasal verbs, and more

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate, dynamic, and experienced freelance English teacher to join our growing team. You will lead online group classes for intermediate to advanced-level learners, using your teaching skills to help them develop real, practical fluency in English. 

 

This is not your typical online teaching job. Our students do not want textbook-style lessons, they are looking for energy, interaction, and a real sense of progress. Your role is to guide, not lecture. You will help students feel confident, heard, and motivated to keep learning. Every class should feel purposeful, engaging, and different from what they have experienced before.

We are especially looking for someone who brings a warm, energetic, and engaging teaching style; someone who knows how to connect with students, manage small group dynamics, and create a positive learning atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • ​Lead small online group classes (max 4–5 students) using dynamic, conversation-led lesson plans

  • Use (Zoom) breakout rooms regularly in groups of 3+ to maximise speaking time

  • Keep the rhythm high: ask quick questions, avoid long explanations, and create momentum

  • Maintain a warm, supportive classroom environment where students feel safe to speak and make mistakes

  • Provide corrections that are clear, helpful, and encouraging

  • (Optional) Create your own lesson plans or follow our PDF lesson plans

What We are Looking For

  • A native English speaker with online teaching experience (small groups preferred)

  • Able to work on a freelance basis and issue invoices

  • A warm, energetic teaching style that keeps students engaged and motivated

  • A strong communicator who knows how to create a fast-paced, student-led class

  • Confident using breakout rooms, screen sharing, and basic video conferencing tools

  • Willing to follow a structured plan while improvising when it benefits the group

  • Committed to helping students love English and feel their progress in every session​
